Local charity passes milestone

WEST WHITELAND >> Efforts by one local charity to provide hotel rooms to families traveling for medical care for their children passed a milestone last month after providing roughly 1,300 hotel room nights total.

The charity, called the Kolbe Fund, aims to pay hotel room costs for families traveling with sick children. According to charity officials, the organization has paid for roughly 1,300 hotel rooms for 425 families since it’s inception in October of 2013.

Officials said the charity passed the 1,000-night mile mark in November of 2015, and that they expect to provide over 800 nights alone in 2016.

“It’s about empowering families seeking the very best care,” said Kate Schnittman.
